In September 2022, we welcomed Anna Konarska to our team as Trusts and Grants Fundraiser.
In this role, she will be responsible for developing grant requests and managing our overall trusts and grants fundraising programme.
We interviewed Anna to learn more about her, and about what she’ll bring to the role.
Why did you apply to be Trusts and Grants Fundraiser at Waverley Care?
I have always been passionate about supporting people affected by stigma and discrimination. In the past, I have worked for charities supporting migrants and people with poor mental health. Working for Waverley Care feels like a natural continuation of that path.
What previous experience will you bring to the role?
I have over six years of project management experience working for charities in London and Scotland. I used to run a therapeutic gardening project for people with poor mental health in North-East London, and later a similar scheme in the Highlands for the Findhorn Foundation. I have always enjoyed the fundraising aspect of project management and have explored it in various positions at charitable organisations such as Global Ecovillage Network and Haringey Migrant Support Centre.
What are you most excited to work on?
I am excited about expanding and coordinating our portfolio of grants and securing funds for a wide range of projects that will have a significant positive impact on people living with, or at risk of, HIV.
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
I like spending time in nature, hiking, kayaking and foraging wild foods. I also enjoy swimming, reading and travelling.
