Waverley Care is delighted to announce another record-breaking year at the Edinburg Festival Fringe

2024 marked Scotland’s wettest summer on record. However the weather didn’t seem to put a damper on the generosity of Festival goers at The Pleasance in August. We are delighted to announce that this year’s Festival Fringe raised £61,702.24 for Waverley Care.

This amazing total will make a huge contribution towards our vision of a Scotland where anyone living with HIV can expect to be treated with acceptance, support and respect.

We are proud to celebrate over thirty years of partnership with The Pleasance Theatre and grateful for their passionate and inspiring support.

From 2 to 26 August, over 100 volunteers and 16 teams from our generous corporate supporters braved the mixed weather and the thronging crowds and met some amazing people to raise an astonishing amount of money.

Our incredible volunteers

Waverley Care would like to thank ALL of our volunteers who came out to support us over the month of August. We absolutely could not have done this without you.

We would also like to thank the following performers, companies and venues for allowing us to collect: Gilded Balloon, Captivate Theatre, The Bohemians, Bare Productions, Rob Madge, The Neverending Theatre, Hans Off and Kim Blythe.

We look forward to returning to the Fringe in 2025 and continuing this long-lasting and valued relationship with The Pleasance.

Big Corporate Shake Up

One of our favourite parts of the Fringe is when we invite friends from our corporate supporters to raise money for Waverley Care at the festival. The enthusiasm and love we see from our volunteers towards Waverley Care is extraordinary and they receive our utter admiration for working through all kinds of weather (it’s summer in Scotland after all) engaging with the public at The Pleasance and telling them about the essential work that Waverley Care does throughout Scotland.

This year, we had more teams than ever before and we’d like to thank abrdn, Baillie Gifford, Lloyds Banking Group, Morgan Stanley, NatWest, Wood Mackenzie and User Testing for giving up their time to raise money for Waverley Care.

Team NatWest

The Big Corporate Shake-Up was created in order to instil a little bit of competition between our corporate friends and the team who raise the most money walk away with the coveted trophy.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s winners are Team NatWest who raised an astounding £1,747.64 – a Fringe record! We’d like to also give a special mention to Team Baillie Gifford who raised the most money on a single shift – £1,043.19.

We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who took part in the 2024 Big Corporate Shake-Up and look forward to welcoming you back in 2025….
